I was forced to read this book back in fifth grade because of a book report. So we looked for a book that I could read at the time. We found Mockingbird. Dads Perspective Dad is the father of Caitlin and was working on this chest with his son Devan, but at school one day devan was shot.(chapter 1-2). From that day on dad never finished the chest. Catlin tried to convince dad that by finishing the chest they would be brought together again. Dad goes to the store to buy supplies for the chest Catlin and dad are now building. But dad still has trouble building the chest because it was a project meant for his son and him.(chapter 1 page 2) It takes awhile for him to realize that if he builds it, he would have less stress and be more free. He was stressed because he would never finish the project with his son. The last few chapters of the story dad finally finished the chest, he felt happy finishing it with caitlin. When reading this I thought the piece of the puzzle was found and put in. the last chapter dad and caitlin feel better that they now know that the killer was brought to justice.
